The locals know it – Toowong is a prestige Brisbane suburb. Close to the city and with everything you need, good public transport, shopping, schools (public and private), short distance to the University of Queensland. Also near to the excellent Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, though the Toowong Shopping Centre is excellent in its own right. I have lived in Brisbane nearly all my life and Toowong absolutely stands out. One of my favourite places on Toowong’s doorstep is the wonderful Mt Cootha. Walking trails, road cycling, fully developed mountain biking trails and an amazing view of the city make it a joy to reach the top. The locals will tell you, Mt Cootha is like nature’s own gymnasium!
Know for its picturesque hills and beautiful cottages, Paddington is the vein of the Inner West, running outwards from the City and adjoining Red Hill to the North, Bardon to the West and Auchenflower to the South. As you travel down Caxton Street, past Suncorp Stadium, onto Given and Latrobe Terraces, you will see why Paddington is such a desirable place to live in Brisbane.
At the tail end of Coronation Drive is Toowong; at the centre is a commercial precinct, including Toowong Village and several office buildings. The remainder of the suburb is predominantly residential, with a mix of medium density dwellings and detached houses. University students mingle with families in this large suburb, which crosses from the Brisbane River all the way to Mount Coot-tha.
With vast land and classic Queenslanders closer to Auchenflower, and units and townhouses closer to St Lucia, Toowong is a mix of property styles guaranteed to suit any budget and give plenty of opportunities to purchase within 5kms from the CBD.
Great food and shops are close at hand, as well as easy access to the Western Freeway and CBD, and Toowong is a well-regarded suburb that finishes the Inner 5k ring.
