  • Right on the City fringe

  • high density but does get some fantastic City views

  • Land size is very small

What locals say

You best love your neighbours if you want to live in Petrie Terrace! Narrow streets and noisy traffic can make this suburb a little difficult for some people, but for those looking for somewhere that’s close to nightlife and lifestyle areas, Petrie Terrace is a fantastic little area! Caxton Street and The Barracks are your two main entertainment options, with Petrie Terrace itself also having some cute cafes. The houses on the higher ends of Petre Terrace can get really amazing City and mountain views! It’s also a great suburb if your kids go to the Grammar/Terrace schools! Mary - Petrie Terrace

Why we love Petrie Terrace

One of the smallest areas of the Inner West, Petrie Terrace abuts the CBD but enjoys some of the best views in Brisbane. With Caxton Street and The Barracks (a centralised lifestyle hub) and Roma Street Parklands minutes away, Petrie Terrace’s location and traditional feel are enticing features of a small community.

If you want to immerse yourself in good food, great shopping and premier live sport, Caxton Street and The Barracks have you covered. Exuding an energetic vibe under the imposing shadow of Suncorp Stadium, Caxton Street comes alive most weekends as hundreds of footy fans converge on the strip. The Barracks has become a landmark retail and commercial hub, integrating heritage-listed buildings and architecture. A former city jail, police station and army barracks at different times, The Barracks offers a range of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Similar to Spring Hill, properties in Petrie Terrace are packed together tightly on smaller blocks of land, and traditional cottages and timber structures are the order of the day. Well-elevated and hilly, Petrie Terrace properties are nestled in between 4 main roads and have easy access to all the principal thoroughfares. Uniquely part of Petrie Terrace are the Terrace houses of another era, which set a pleasant tone for the suburb.
